SCHOLLE IN THE NEWS
10/20/2003 | Scholle Corporation announces the opening of a new manufacturing and sales facility in Suzhou, China. This makes Scholle the first bag-in-box company in the world to make a direct manufacturing investment in the People’s Republic of China. It is Scholle twelfth bag manufacturing plant worldwide.
According to Leon Gianneschi, Asia-Pacific managing director, “Scholle has had a long history of engagement in the Chinese market. This facility marks an important and critical next step in being the leading bag-in-box manufacturer in China and in Asia. Our aim is to providing high-quality, cost-effective products for the fast-growing Chinese market and other markets in Asia and beyond.” Initially these bags will be for wine, postmix fountain syrup, dairy products and processed food applications.
The new facility, in an industrial park about 50km northwest of Shanghai, will manufacture a full range of bags from 2 liters to 1,000 liters on Scholle-designed machines. Technology will be state-of-the-art and based on Scholle best practices from other locations. Scholle is unique in offering fully integrated manufacturing for its film, spouts and caps, and the bags themselves.
Bag-in-box offers many advantages over rigid packaging, including cleaner filling, space efficiency, lower costs, less packaging waste, no clean and return, and automated dispensing options. It was invented over 40 years ago by Scholle Corporation, headquartered in Northlake, Illinois USA. Scholle remains the major global supplier of bag-in-box packaging solutions for food, beverage and industrial products..
