04/15/2005 | Vacumet Corp., headquartered in Wayne, New Jersey, has acquired the assets of Proma Technologies located in Franklin, Massachusetts. The Franklin facility will become part of Vacumet’s Metallized Paper Division.
Vacumet Corp. is a recognized leader in vacuum metallizing and is the single largest non-captive metallizing company in the world. This process imparts decorative and/or barrier properties to plastic film and paper used mainly in packaging applications but also for industrial uses. Vacumet Corp. manufactures in, New Jersey, Illinois, Georgia, Connecticut, Tennessee, Indiana and now Massachusetts.
The Franklin, Massachusetts, facility is a 140,000 square-foot manufacturing site that produces metallized and holographic papers used in the promotion and packaging of a wide range of consumer products as well as labels, wrapping paper, greeting cards, etc. Its paper metallizing equipment accommodates roll widths up to 93" and diameters up to 72" O.D.
According to Robert T. Korowicki, Vacumet president, “The newly expanded Metallized Paper Division combines two organizations intently focused on meeting the growing needs of our customers, while developing products that create new worldwide applications for both silver and holographic metallized papers. We will continue to provide our customers with the widest array of products in the industry, produced in two world-class production facilities, while maintaining the highest levels of quality, value, customer support and services.”
This latest acquisition is part of Vacumet’s commitment to remain a leading supplier of converted products and services in the labeling, packaging and industrial markets. Vacumet recently expanded its film metallizing capacity in Austell, Georgia and East Hartford, Connecticut. Other acquisitions in recent years included the Rexam’s North American metallizing businesses located in Indiana and Tennessee and Himac’s metallized film business located in Atlanta, Georgia.
