SCHOLLE OPENS DIRECT SALES OFFICE IN GERMANY

07/26/2004 | Scholle Corporation has opened a sales office in Weinheim,
Germany, that will sell bag-in-box packaging to markets in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The office, a registered GmbH, will supply bags ranging from 2 to 1,000 liters from Scholle’s worldwide manufacturing network, including operations in Gateshead, Holt and Fakenham, U.K., and Breda, The Netherlands.

Initially the new German office will be staffed with two new Scholle employees, Commercial Manager Lutz Schöllhammer, a 25-year industry veteran, and Business Manager Thomas Hoffmann, with 17 years experience. Both men were formerly with Zewathener/Rapak. Conré Oostrom, Managing Director for Scholle Europe, is “extremely delighted about this opportunity. Having local representation will give us access to necessary contacts in a variety of market segments.”

Bill Scholle, Scholle CEO, agrees: “Since Germany is one of the largest markets in Europe for bag in box, this will open up a lot of opportunity for steady growth for us in our traditional markets such as dairy, post-mix syrup and wine, but also in less familiar applications such as edible oil and chemicals.”

Bag-in-box offers many advantages over rigid packaging, including cleaner filling, space efficiency, lower costs, less packaging waste, no clean and return, and automated dispensing options. It was invented over 40 years ago by Scholle Corporation ’s packaging division, headquartered in Northlake, Illinois USA. Scholle remains the leading global supplier of bag-in-box packaging solutions for food, beverage and industrial products.
