Scholle Packaging at Process Expo 2010

This year only, Process Expo co-located with the Institute of Food Technologist’s Annual Meeting and Food Expo.

IFT/Process Expo was held in Chicago at McCormick Place — Expo on July 18-20. Scholle was one of many industry suppliers who took advantage of this opportunity to showcase products and services.

From a supplier’s perspective, we were excited to be a part of this one-time food industry event that encompassed everything from food science and ingredient technology to the latest in processing and packaging.

Much like the packaging industry, science and business drives and defines the food industry. Without science there would be little growth and maturity. But without business and market drivers what’s the point?

We saw market drivers that were very apparent during the show and required specialized packaging considerations.

  • A continued consumer demand in health and wellness benefits drove an increase in new value-added ingredients and products that need highly-protective packaging to keep nutrients intact.
  • Visitors to the booth were concerned with food safety and security, as well as, packaging that could give them competitive advantage over rivals.
  • Processors are looking for suppliers that can help add value to their product while cutting costs. Although not a new business challenge, today’s leading companies have already taken lean steps. Getting more out of less is getting increasingly difficult.

Using Scholle Packaging throughout the value chain can help lower operations costs while delivering a better product—even in lean economic times.

For Inbound Materials:

Scholle A2B, a new full-service material logistics operation, by Scholle Packaging provides industry-leading packaging, supply chain management from origin to destination, shipping, documentation and customs. Scholle’s global footprint; advanced packaging experience and product knowledge gives processors real-time advantage of inbound materials while cutting logistics costs.

To Lower Operations Costs:

Scholle closed-system drum liners and bag-in-box systems help processors address food safety issues while offering a fresher, safer product.  Scholle open-top replacement systems save processors warehouse space, packaging and shipping costs and reduces material handling.

Empty bag-in-box arrives and stores flat. Once filled, bag-in-box’s compact footprint and low product-to-package ratio reduces outbound shipping and warehousing costs.

For the End-User:

The same properties that make Scholle Packaging a smart choice for suppliers add value to the end-user. Lowered shipping and storage space costs carry through the value chain. The high-tech properties that help with HACCP concerns and food safety keep products fresh from fill to finish. Easy-to-fill taps and fitments minimize product exposure for the foodservice operator or home-use, protecting your brand’s integrity.
